LEATHER EXPRESS

Leather furniture continues to grow in popularity because it's durable, easy to care for and improves with age...Although synthetic materials can mimic the look of leather, nothing can match its feel...
Here are some tips for buying leather furniture...At Leather Express we sell only top grain leather...But what does that mean?...All cowhides are split lengthwise...Top grain refers to the top layer of the hide, while split grain, often called genuine leather, is the lower inferior layer...
Top grain leather is known for being soft and supple with strength and flexibility...Since leather is a natural product It has the ability to breathe, which allows it to adjust to the temperature of your body and the room...
The price of leather furniture depends on the grade, or quality of the hide...The tanning process....The style of the piece...and the basic construction...
High grade cowhides have little damage and are as close to unblemished as possible...You might think it's funny but these hides usually come from cows with easy lives that haven't been scarred by fences, other animals or insect bites...
Generally, the highest grade hides are dyed to their exact, or similar final color using a chemical called Aniline...Pure Aniline leather also known as "naked leather" does not alter or mask the natural markings of the hide...Because this open-pored leather has no protective coatings or pigments it stays soft and pliable with a buttery feel...Although Full or Pure Aniline hides are the least processed they are the most expensive because of the high grade of the cowhides used...
Another type of leather is called Protected Leather or Semi-Aniline Leather...In addition to the aniline dye these leathers are also treated with surface finishes that have a Scotchguard-like effect making them more durable than pure aniline leather...They may also have color enhancers giving them a highly uniformed color...The final color comes from pigments sprayed on the surface of the hides...At Leather Express you can choose from hundreds of colors to suit your taste....
If you have kids or are planning to buy leather furniture that will go in a high use area you probably would be better off buying Protected Leather...
All of our leather furniture is constructed with sturdy hardwood frames and steel springs...
